Brock Brooks
We go back to Topanga days back in high school. A friend of my cousin, we went camping on the Kern River with the local Boy Scout troop, playing pool at the Sanders house in old Topanga canyon after he got off work at Burt Stewart's Chevron. Body surfing at Will Roger's state beach. Visiting Shell Beach, San Luis Obispo on a holiday weekend where he attended Cal Poly for a soil science discipline. At the Woodland Hills library for recipes on how to make whiskey. Attending The DOORS concert at the Long Beach Arena. Checking out his friend Steve Swanson's latest workings with six cylinder Corvair engines. Gathering Maple leaves in the Woodland Hills neighborhood for his mother's pottery glaze. Visiting him in the hospital after being gasoline burned when the fumes were ignited by a gas water heater while removing the gas from the car that little brother Jack had filled with water from the garden hose. Going to Tijuana, Mexico to have the seats re-upolstered, and to pick up a leather jacket, and a few other items on the list. I still have the last post card he mailed to me from 6/23/1987.
