He retired from the University of Florida School of Agriculture and lived in Hilo for 23 years. He was a gentle soul who walked lightly on earth. A Master of Chi Gung and a Master Gardener who established the Hilo Bay Clinic Garden in 2001-2003. He leaves behind numerous videos on YouTube and Vimeo relating to nature and practical purchases. He leaves behind his brother Calvin DeFilippis of Honolulu, Hawaii.
