Robert (Bob) C. Measel Jr, 75, of Hilo, Hawai’i passed away on Sunday Oct 25, 2020 when he was taken by ambulance to the Hilo Medical Center. Although his mind was sharp, his body failed him due to Chronic Kidney disease, Cardiac Hypertrophy, and Skin Cancer. Born in Danville, Kentucky on 08/09/1945 where he lived briefly with Mother Betty H. Measel and Father Robert C. Measel Sr. who he now joins in Heaven, his family moved to Hawai’i. Bob graduated from Kailua High School, Class of 1962 and studied science at Okaloosa – Walton Community College before serving with the U.S Airforce from 1964 - 1968 during the Vietnam War. Bob returned to Hawai’i to follow his passion for surfing, which led to the opportunity to make surf boards with Ben Aipa on Oahu in the early 70’s. He then went on to becoming a Car Salesmen for a short time before finding a career in Real estate with Stark Realty. Bob found his love in Waikiki and married Antoinette Tachet and they had two children. Bob was a well-known real estate broker all over Kauai and Oahu for over 30 years. He then moved to the Big island to start Developing Community Properties in an effort to sustain The Hawaiian Culture. Bob was a founding partner of Measel Associates, the CEO and President of ‘E Pili Kaua Ventures, Inc., an entrepreneur with Diamond Cross Ministries, and a hotel developer with the Royal Development Corp. Bob was a long-time member of the Republican Party and voiced his opinion colorfully on Facebook which would get him locked out and into Zuckerberg’s Jail for 30-day cycles. As a Republican, Bob ran for Mayor of Kauai and Governor of Hawai’i in the late 80’s. Bob was an active member of the Waikiki Yacht Club and he assisted the Police Department with Bloodhound Search and Rescue. Anyone who knew Bob knows he was a lover of horses and he shared love with his daughter. Together they raised more than 15 horses and loved to ride in the Old Koloa Town Parade. Bob is survived by Daughter, Heather Measel Hinkle of Walnut Creek, Ca; Travis Measel Tachet, of Poway, Ca; and former wife Antoinette Tachet of Temecula, Ca; numerous relatives in Texas and on the mainland. Bob will never be forgotten and will be loved forever by all. If you knew Bob, you would fondly remember the times you sat with him and he could tell you stories or discuss real estate for hours. Services will be post-pond until next year 2021, to be held at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl. Details will be shared with Family and Friends and through Facebook.
