I met Garfield in Honolulu Hawaii Jan 1985. His guidance in recovery grew into a beautiful friendship.We lost touch after I moved back to mainland March 1987..We were reunited through a mutual friend March 2019 and we spoke and texted everyday till the last day of his life..he wanted me to move back to help him in his final days and cook him some gourmet food. He told me he bought me a bed for the spare bedroom and the plan was for me to visit Dec 1st. On Oct 11th I called the police in hilo for s wellness check since I hadn't heard from him since oct7th..someone else had his phone and didn't tell me who they were for awhile..the police told me that Garfield had passed away.i did a little flower ceremony in the bayou here and made an ornament in his name. RIP Garfield love you
