Ann Juliette Kukakina Nathaniel's Obituary
Mrs. Ann Juliette Kukakina Nathaniel, affectionately known as "Nana," 97, of Hilo, Hawaii, met her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at her Panaʻewa home. She was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, on March 5, 1928, and raised on Lehua Street in Puueo, Hilo, alongside her siblings. She attended St. Joseph School for Girls.
Nana was a proud and dedicated servant of the Hawaiian community. Her extensive career included roles as a Legislative Coordinator for the Legal Aid Society of Hawaii, Staff Training Officer for the Hawaii County Economic Opportunity Council, and Supervisor of Four Community Service Centers. She also served with distinction on the board for Hui Mālama Ola Nā ʻŌiwi, holding positions as Vice President, Acting Chairman, and Chairman. Furthermore, Nana was a Past Secretary and Life Member of the ʻAhahui Kaʻahumanu Society Helu ʻEkolu, a Board Director for the Keaukaha-Panaʻewa Community Association, and an At Large Board Member for Alu Like Inc. She was the oldest member of the ʻAhahui Sīwila ʻo Ke Aloha ʻĀina.
She is survived by her loving siblings Yolanda Princler, Kuʻuipo Dias, William Yomes and Ron Kaipo. Her sons, James Earl White III, Glenn Mitchell White and Jonathan David Nathaniel.
She leaves behind a loving legacy of numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and adoptive children.
