Anne Marie Reece's Obituary
Anne Marie Reece, 67, of Kailua-Kona, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2025. The loss of our beloved mother, grammy, and friend will be felt throughout much of the Kona community, where she lived for 36 years.
It was in Kona that Anne raised her family, ran two successful businesses, and nurtured countless relationships with people who started as acquaintances, then became friends, and ultimately ohana. During her childhood, Anne moved around often and longed for a place to call home; a place her daughters and grandsons could always return to. She found that here, in Kona. This was her home, and she loved it as deeply as anyone has ever loved a town and its people.
Anne was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John “Mick” Reece, with whom she shared many years of partnership, laughter, and love. She is survived by her daughters Aimee Soto and Sarah Reece (Steve) and her cherished grandsons Emilio and Adrian Soto. Anne also leaves behind her treasured four-legged companions: her beloved Shetland Sheepdog, Georgie, and her sweet kitty, Blanche, who now reside in California with Sarah and Steve.
Anne was known for making people feel welcome, for her infectious laughter, her sense of humor, and her big, warm, all-encompassing hugs. She was the embodiment of the aloha spirit. She will be remembered for this and for her adventurous nature—up until her cancer diagnosis, she was still hiking through the mud to Fishman’s Beach and riding water slides with her grandsons at the Hilton Waikoloa. Anne’s vitality and zest for life could not be dimmed by cancer. She will be remembered that way. Deeply loved, she will be forever missed.
A celebration of life is being planned for the summer of 2026.
