Barbara Cassidy Emery's Obituary
Barbara Emery passed away on September 23, 2025, at the age of eighty-seven in Honoka’a, HI. She was a long-time resident of Nevada County, CA, Santa Clara County, CA, and New York City, Queens, NY.
She was married to Bob Emery from San Jose, CA, for over fifty-five years until his passing in 2018 in Nevada City, CA. They had three sons: Gregory, David, and Benjamin.
Barbara had her sons with her when she transitioned over. Her life was filled with many unforgettable memories and adventures.
Born in New York City in 1938, her final journey was spent on an off-grid small homestead in Hawai’i, which showed her sense of wonder and openness to new experiences. She learned to love rural living and appreciated the abundance of life around her. She enjoyed learning new things every day.
In her professional career, Barbara taught English as a Second Language and Civics to adult students working to earn their high school diplomas in the Santa Clara School District. She loved the English language and helping others.
She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.
