Beverly Puaokeko'olau Kawelu Doi's Obituary
Beverly Puaokeko'olau Kawelu Doi, of Keaukaha, passed away peacefully at her home on May 19, 2023 surrounded by her loving family
Born on January 24, 1943, in Hilo, she was a beautiful mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother, affectionately known as "Tutu". She loved to be of service to anyone in the community and her career would reflect that, as she worked at Life Care Center, Hilo Hospice, Kokua Nurses and as a private caregiver. Quite the athlete, tutu was an avid bowler with Hawaiian Bowling Club, golfer with Wikiwiki Golf Club, winning the 2004 HSWGA Tournament in Waikoloa, paddled the first Lili'uokalani Long Distance race with Keaukaha Canoe Club and played softball with Leialoha's Softball Team. Later in life, she would continue her participation in sports through preparation of meals for Kai 'Opua Canoe Club, Halau Hi'iakainamakalehua and her most favorite, the keiki of Keaukaha, who couldnt wait to have some of Tutu's ono spaghetti and chicken enchiladas. If Tutu was around, every opu would be fed. Tutu would always share her love and aloha with everyone she encountered. Her greatest treasure is her family. She especially enjoyed family dinners surrounded with good food, good spirits and most importantly, those she held dear to her. Tutu never held back telling us how much she loved, loved, loved us so, so, so much.
