Bianca Clayton's Obituary
Bianca Clayton, 72, of Keaau, HI passed away on July 18, 2019 at the Pohai Malama Hospice in Hilo. She grew up in Cocoa Beach, Florida, was a widow to Edwin Ung, and is survived by two daughters and one grand-daughter.
Those who knew Bianca remember her as a lively, colorful character who loved to regale friends with elaborate tales of her travels and adventures. She had been adopted as an infant and grew up as an only child in Florida. Early in adolescence she developed a strong yearning to know her true blood line. She fantasized about her possible origins and as a teenager she changed her name from Ellen Raigh to Bianca Roxanne.
In her twenties she married and had two children but was too restless to settle into motherhood and marriage in suburbia. She was drawn to Latin America, moved there, and lived in Costa Rica for the better part of two decades. She was proud of her moniker La Macha Gringa (which roughly translates as The Blond American). When she returned to the United States she lived in Michigan, Florida, Texas, and North Carolina but was ultimately drawn to Hawaii. Before moving to Hawaii she consulted a fortune-teller who advised her that such a move would be auspicious and that she would meet a kind gentleman named Ed. This prophesy did come true. Shortly after her move to Hilo she met Edwin Ung. He was her third husband and with him she had her happiest marriage. She sadly lost him to cancer in 2018. We sincerely thank Pohai Malama Hospice for taking wonderful care of Bianca.
