Billie Lavender Hawkins' Obituary
Billie Lavender Hawkins, who was 97 years young, passed away at Kona Community Hospital on September 21, 2025, with her daughter and son-in-law, Myrna and Richard Fant by her side. Billie is also survived by daughter Lorrie and son-in-law Stephen Gitz, and daughter Sandra Burger (son-in-law Mark Burger, deceased) as well as an expansive family of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Billie grew up in Michigan and married her first husband, Harvey Lavender, and worked for General Motors Research where they raised a family in Troy. Upon Harvey’s death, Billie moved to North Carolina where she met her second husband, Fred Hawkins. Billie lived in Hendersonville, NC, where she had family in the area and many lovely friends from Carolina Village. After Fred’s death she came to live with her daughter in Kona and enjoyed the spirit of Aloha.
