Byron George Levey's Obituary
Byron was born and raised in Lodi, CA. Son to Leroy and Martha Levey, brother, Don Levey,
sister to Sandra Starkey, and Father to Jeremy Levey. He served in the United States Air Force
Reserve for 6 years and worked in the printing industry for most of his life. He enjoyed music,
San Francisco, the Grateful Dead, Rolling Stones and could sing like Jagger. A life long rock
and roll, and 49er football fan. He drove a black 911SC, and was quite handsome.
I met Byron in 1989, shortly after the Loma Prieta earthquake in Santa Cruz, CA. I had recently
opened an Artschool around the corner from his business, Accurate Rubber Stamp. He made
me laugh and brought happiness back into my life. He was my best cheerleader for 35 years.
We agreed to build a new life together. We were blessed with a beautiful child,
Jeremy Stanton Levey. We bought a house on Casserly, then another at Manresa. Then in
2005, Byron had a stroke or two that changed our lives. For the next 19 years, we redesigned
the future, and remained strong in Love.
Jeremy was 18 when we moved to Hawaii Island, where we spent 10 magical years exploring
this beautiful terrain and the Aloha of our new community.
Byron was strong willed, brave, intelligent, and possessed a powerful wit and sense of humor.
His timing was impeccable. He knew all the right words. At some point they didn’t matter, we
had our own language. Life had taken most of them away. His last words were “Jeremy” and
“Unbelievable”. Life is that, and I’m so happy I got to spend it with Byron.
RIP My Love,
Susun Gallery Levey
