Carolyn Paula Mohn's Obituary
Carolyn Paula Mohn, 83, of Volcano, HI, passed away on May 20, 2022 at Kaiser Permanente Moanalua Medical Center in Honolulu from complications following surgery. Born January 12, 1939 in Moline, Illinois, Carolyn lived there during the early War years with her parents, Chester and Blanche Mohn and her younger sister, Mary Sue, before moving back to Minnesota.
Carolyn moved to Honolulu to pursue more education at the University of Hawaii. Her schooling and interests led to her first job as a quality control chemist at Hawaiian Flour Mill (HFM) in Honolulu, a job that morphed into a 40+ year career. At HFM she held a variety of responsible and challenging positions until she retired.
Upon retirement in 2007, Carolyn and Robert moved to their home near Volcano. She was an avid gardener, a passionate observer and caretaker of wildlife and domestic animals, and an active community volunteer. Carolyn was a woman of strong character -- reliable, trustworthy and loyal -- someone you could count on.
She is preceded in death by her father, Chester Andy Mohn; her mother, Blanche Sigurdson Mohn. Survived by her partner, Robert Clague of Volcano; her sister, Mary Sue Mohn Gee (Arthur) of Tacoma, WA; niece, Jennifer Gee Ph.D. of Idyllwild, CA; nephew, Dr. Jeffrey Wolff-Gee (Wendy); nephew Nicolas; and niece, Madeleine all of Brier, WA.
