Chastity "Chas" Melissa Baucom's Obituary
Chastity Melissa Baucom (Chas), age 47, formerly of Hilo, Hawaii, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, September 25, 2023. She died of natural causes.
She was a graduate of Hilo High School’s Class of 1993. She continued her education at UH Hilo and majored in Political Science. She was a real people person who had a great passion for music and dance, so much so that she landed a position at Tempo Music. Chastity had a long history of employment here in the city of Hilo. At the early age of 10 years old, she delivered newspapers for the Tribune-Herald. White still in High School, she worked at Hiro's Restaurant after school as a fry cook and cashier. To list a few employers here in Hilo: Wamart as Direct Receiving Associate, Home Depot as an accounting associate, YMCA as an outreach worker for children and families in the community, and Pancro Collections as a collector. Her last and final employment was with Hawaii County Economic Opportunity Council as a Medical Transportation Specialist. There she stayed for many years until early retirement due to illness.
She is survived by her parents, Foster and Patricia Baucom; son, Chansen Baucom-Pila (Charmaine); daughter, Cierra Baucom-Pila; and sister, Jodell Ancheta Castillo (Trini).
