Christopher Alan Ferreira's Obituary
Christopher Alan Ferreira
1984 - 2023
Chris was born March 27, 1984, in Vancouver, WA, and was very much welcomed into the world by his family. He loved living in the Pacific Northwest where he went fishing, crabbing, clamming, hunting, RVing, and hiking. On one of the days he went clamming, he was not quite 4 years old, he would reach into the bucket holding the clams that were just dug up, and threw them back into the water, saying he had to feed the sharks.
When he was in middle school, his mom taught him how to play chess and he joined the chess club. They continued to play chess together until December 2022. Needless to say, the student was now teaching his teacher. He loved to play pool and was very good at it, even winning some tournaments. When he moved to Florida, he taught both his nephews, Bailey and Ashton, how to play pool, and also taught Ashton how to play chess. Chris used to say he was a really big kid at heart, and he really had a very big and generous heart. He was very intelligent and funny. He would squish the cheeks of his niece, Arianna, and make her laugh. He'd do the same to his mom and mess with her hair. He was also very caring and loving. Whenever his mom didn't feel well, he would get her some water or make her something to eat and always asked if she needed anything. Although he and his sister Kayci would argue like most siblings do, they always had each other's back. He reconnected with his family in Hawaii, and especially loved his Aunty Lindy and Aunty Jen. He loved all of his family, too many to mention, and would always help them out when he could. He was also loyal to his friends Terry and James whom he loved like brothers.
He helped his dad build a rock wall and shovel dirt while landscaping the front yard in Hawaii, despite the severe back pain from an injury years ago while working as a bouncer in Vancouver, WA. He later became involved in security work and became a supervisor and negotiated a pay raise for the other security officers. He loved his job working in security and even worked for two companies at the same time without any days off, sometimes for a couple of months. He was a hard worker and even worked double-shifts to cover for employees who didn't show up for work. He was also an Employee of the Month.
Chris left this world much too soon, in Hawaii, on January 2, 2023. He leaves behind his father, Alfred Ferreira Jr., and his mothers, Judy and Laura Ferreira, his sister Kayci, his nephews Bailey and Ashton, his niece Arianna, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A Memorial Mass is scheduled for Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at 9:30 A.M., at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Hilo with an inurnment to follow at Homelani Memorial Park at 10:30 A.M.
