Christopher “James” Dean Wilkes, 52, of Hilo, HI passed away at home on October 27, 2022. Born in Burlington, New Jersey in 1970, he was a combat medic in the U.S. Army, a tile setter, and an executive chef in Hawai’i and on the mainland.
He is survived by his wife, Kealoha’aina P. Wilkes; brothers, M. Pahinui (Shana Clark-Wingler) Bauckham of Kaloli; Glenn T. Mitsuda of Hilo, Kevin (Shanna Kamanu) Helliangao of HPP; Gary Alohawiwo’ole Altman Jr. of Springfield, MO, Cedric (Amy) Andrews of Bremerton, WA, David (Stacey Drake) Wilkes of Yakima, WA, and Patrick (Jo) Wilkes of Denver, CO; brother-in-law, Francis K. (Kalehua) Simeona Jr. of Mt. View; sister-in-law, Chelsea A. (Abraham Leedy) Ah Sing of Pepe’ekeo; hanai sister, Leinani W. (Ernie Mattos) Raymond of Hilo; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
