Debralyn "Debbie" Nalani Alatan's Obituary
Debralyn (Debbie) Nalani Alatan, 68, of Keaau, HI passed away on January 19, 2024 at Hilo Medical
Center from a short battle with cancer. She was born in Hilo and worked at Treasure
Island Eatery, Hilo Medical Group, and retired from the State Dept of Health as a Public
Health Nurse. Debbie was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and friend.
Services will be April 13, 2024 at Sure Foundation Church in Puna with visitation starting at 9:00 am
followed by services at 10:00 am.
She was preceded in death by her husband Derek Alatan and is survived by her son
Ivan (Keala) Alatan of Honokaa; daughters Kelly (Brent) Raymond of Keaau and Kim
(DJ) Ka’auwai White of Kohala; brothers Calvin (Pohai) Higa of Volcano and Stacy (Jan)
Higa of Hilo, and sister Nel (Len) Hazelwood of Oceanside, CA. Parents father Akira
Higa of Hilo and preceded in death by mother Rose Higa. Also survived by
grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
