Grace Marie Valdez's Obituary
Grace Marie (Storm) Valdez, 80, of Hilo, Hawaii passed away on January 5, 2024 at Hilo Medical Center.
Grace was born on March 1, 1943, to Edward and Stella (Stoykiewicz) Storm in Easton, PA. She grew up in their family home with her parents and sister, Stephanie Faulkner. She graduated from Notre Dame – Green Pond Catholic High School.
Grace is survived by her loving husband Gary Valdez, her sons Gary Lee Valdez, Jr., Leo James Valdez, Dr. Michael Valdez, and Samuel Valdez and wife Lauren DeHarde and five grandchildren: Amara, Sophia, Anika, Wilder, and Althea.
Grace loved to travel and after high school traveled to Japan and Hawaii. After her travels, she moved to San Diego, where she met the love of her life, Gary. She had a very successful administrative career working for Rohr Marine International, Lockheed, Stanley Vidmar, ALPO, and Nestle, while also raising four boys!
Grace had many talents. She loved to sew, crochet, bake, garden, and craft as well as taught herself how to play the mandolin and washtub bass. Grace could beat anyone in a game of rummy and could solve every crossword puzzle. She was sharp as a tack and was very proud of her 98 Wordle score! She was a force in the kitchen, and she shared her love of cooking with all her children and grandchildren.
