Kalae U'ilani Keala's Obituary
“Beyoncé Kalae Keala but the Beyoncé silent” of Kea’au Hawaii died on Jan 22, 2024 at Hilo Medical Center. Born on Feb 4, 1976 to Abraham and Hasel Keala in Hilo, Kalae was raised in Wai’anae, O’ahu and moved back home to the Big Island in 1994 where she worked as a social worker for Catholic Charities, Hope Services, and Salvation Army, and volunteered for many organizations. She was a Kumu hula who taught many children of Puna the importance of preserving and perpetuating the Hawaiian culture and continued to be very passionate for the Kanaka community.
No one who met Beyoncé Kalae Keala but the Beyoncé silent forgot her infectious laugh, her passion for working for Ke Akua, and her undying love for all her hunnay’s!
She is survived by wife Cheris Keala of Keaau; brother John Ahokovi of Oahu; brother Abraham “Kiki” (Chassidy) Keala of Oahu; sister Berta Jane Younce of Hilo; sister Krysia (Jason) Agosto of Nevada; numerous nieces, nephews, aunties, uncles, and cousins!
