Lisa Marie Fleury's Obituary
LISA MARIE FLEURY
Hilo, Hawaii
February 23, 1963 – December 5, 2023
Lisa Fleury passed away suddenly at home on December 5, 2023. She was the daughter of and was predeceased by Joseph Fleury and Carol August of Connecticut.
Lisa was a graduate of the University of Massachusetts and Northwest Catholic High School. Lisa grew up in East Granby, Connecticut and had been a long time resident of Hawaii, which she considered home. Prior to her retirement, Lisa was a staff pharmacist at Kina’oole Ululani Pharmacy.
Lisa was a Leading Knight at the Hilo Elks Lodge #759. She was active in charitable efforts and civic affairs. Lisa was a gifted pianist who adored Beethoven, Mozart and Scott Joplin. Lisa always said that one day she would master the Entertainer. She was known for her intelligence, wit, uniqueness, sense of humor and creativity. Lisa is survived by her good friend and former employer Miles Nakatsu. Miles cared for Lisa in her final days when she was in failing health. A cute black and white cat named Miso deeply longs for and misses Lisa. Lisa was very well trained, and was a credit to cat owners everywhere. Of this, we are very proud.
When asked about what she liked best about Hawaii Lisa said, “Most people say it’s the sunsets and the beaches. But the best of all are the people. Any one of them would give you the shirt off their back.”
Lisa is survived by the following bereaved relatives: Lorraine Fleury of Norwich, CT, Allison Murphy and Kevin Murphy of Niantic, CT, and Amy Therrien and Adam Therrien of East Hampton, CT. Wayne Therrien of San Jose California is a surviving nephew. Grace Therrien of East Hampton is a surviving niece. Lisa will be sorely missed.
Per Lisa’s written directives, her ashes will be scattered upon Mauna Kea. A permanent memorial will be placed at Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery in Bloomfield, CT. Donations can be made in Lisa’s memory to the Food Basket, Inc., 40 Holomua Street, Hilo, HI 96720
