Marilyn Kealaka Martinez, 72, of Pahoa, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at home in Pahoa. She was a retired educational assistant for the Hawaii Department of Education at Kaumana Elementary School, a member of Maku’u Farmers Hawaiian Homestead Association and Thy word Ministries-Hilo. She is survived by husband Marcelino Martinez of California. Children, Maxine Kajiyama of Pahoa, Miles “Bula” Kajiyama Jr. of Pahoa, Mandy (Earlsen) Kaniaupio of Hawaiian Beaches. Hanai children Joshlene(Justin) Batulanon of Hilo, Hidi (Jon) Boteilho of Maku’u, Keala(Jason) Rowland of Hawaiian Beaches, Malama (Rudy) Valentino of Texas. Grandchildren Rylen (Keha) Kaniaupio of Arizona, Tysen Kaniaupio of Texas and Kylie Kaniaupio of Pahoa. Hanai grandchildren Ka’onohiokalā (Cassidy) of Hilo, Kaliʻu Boteilho of Maku’u, Kamaehu Rowland of Hawaiian Beaches, Jeremyah Batulanon of Hilo, Shaleyah Batulanon of Hilo and Shaiya Batulanon of Hilo. Great grandchildren Aizen Kaniaupio of Arizona and Kapuahiʻōkalā Boteilho of Hilo. Siblings Pearllani (Daryl) Kajiyama of Ainaloa, Emily Naeole of Maku’u, Daniel Kealoha of Hilo, Dottie (Michael) Kyser of Maku’u and Stormi (David Tanaka) Kaleo of Hilo, and numerous cousins, Nieces and Nephews.
