Mary Takiko Nakagawa's Obituary
Mary Matsumoto Nakagawa, age 73, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2025. She was born on July 2, 1951, in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi.
A proud Nisei, Mary was deeply rooted in her Japanese heritage and carried the aloha spirit in all that she did. She was known for her quiet strength, fierce love for her ʻohana, and her deep appreciation for good food—especially a home-cooked meal shared with family. She also had a sharp mind and found joy and entertainment in her favorite show, Game of Thrones.
Mary is survived by her son, Titus Nakagawa, and her cherished grandson, Chance Nakagawa. She is deeply missed by all who knew her.
In keeping with her wishes, there will be no formal service. Her ashes will be returned to the ocean off the shores of Hilo and Oʻahu at private times and locations.
