Owen F. Koehnen's Obituary
Owen F. Koehnen, 67, of Hilo, HI, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Hilo in September of 1951 and graduated from Hilo High School as well as attending Hawaii Preparatory Academy, was a Navy Vietnam War Veteran, a United States Postal Service retiree, and and active member and pillar of the Honoli’I Paka and surf community. His last successful project was the Kaipalaoa Landing Park also known as the Hilo Lighthouse on Bayfront.
A Celebration Of Life service will be held Saturday, June 22, 2019 in the upstairs of Mokupapapa Discovery Center (the old Koehnen Ltd. building) in downtown Hilo. Service time to be announced at a later date.
He is survived by his mother, Carolyn Koehnen; three daughters, Pelehua (Pati) Koehnen-Sua, Tia (Alex) Ora-a, and Kamalei (Ross) Ebenez; three sisters, Lynne Forbes, Helie (Rocky) Rock, and Kristi (Gary) Robinson; significant other, Deborah Billings; an aunt, four cousins, and 9 grandchildren.
