Patricia "Patty" Lynn Culbertson (Waddell)'s Obituary
Patricia Lynn ( Patty) Culbertson (Waddell ), 64. of Waikoloa, passed away August 28th, 2023, under Hospice care at Hale Ho'ola Hamakua. Patty was born March 11th, 1959 in Louisville, Kentucky to James O. Waddell and Peggy Joyce (Maxfield). She graduated from Jefferson High School in Tampa Florida.
She met her spouse Dave Culbertson and they drove to Alaska, via the Alcan Highway. They had 2 sons born in Anchorage and then they relocated to the Big Island , mainly, Waikoloa. Patty loved being a Mom and being involved in their schooling and sports activities. She especially loved that her grandson played at the same fields that his dad and uncle played at when they were that age, and that her Son David coaches severeral teams, including his son David's team. And Coco loved playing soccer and being a girl scout.
Her pride and joy was spending time with her Grandchildren. She loved to teach them and she made the best birthday cakes ever!. She was known as Patty Plants and she loved being at the beach, collecting shells , which , she created beautiful artwork from.
Her last job was with Hawaii Experiences booking boat tours for Dolphin/manta tours. Then the covid pandemic hit. Thank you to the crew at Hawaii Experiences for the happy memories she had. She truly loved working there and she was so good at it. She could always put people at ease, usually by telling corny jokes or by sharing her love and knowledge of the aina.
She leaves behind son, David James Culbertson ( Rose Sasaki) of Waikoloa. Son, Brian Michael of Waikoloa, Grandson David and Granddaughter Chloe (Coco) of Waikoloa and hanai grandkids , Malia and Maximus. She is survived by sister Sandy Richert , (Miki Bell) of Waimea and brother Tony Waddell of Tampa, Florida. Niece, Jessica Richert -Flis of NC and nephew, Matthew Richert of S.C ., nephew , Jameson Patrick Waddell, Florida. She was preceded in death by her brother James Martin "Marty" Waddell , 34 of Alaska.
