Raphael Gomes' Obituary
Raphael “Ralph” Gomes, 84, of Capt. Cook, HI, passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2016 at Tripler Hospital. He was born in Kona, HI on May 30, 1931. He was a cook in the Merchant Marines, painter for the US Government in Kwajalein, coffee farmer in Milolii, and a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Army. A visitation will take place on Friday, June 3, 2016 from 9 am to 10:30 am at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo; a memorial mass will take place at 10:30 am. Inurnment to follow at the Hawaii Veterans Cemetery #2. Family requests casual attire and to omit flowers. He is survived by sister, Thomasina Fogliani of San Carlos, CA; 3 brothers, Joseph Henry (Linda) Gomes of CA, Theodore (Gwen) Gomes of Kamuela, HI, and Bobby (Phoebe) Gomes of Pahala, HI; numerous nieces and nephews.
