Ray Donald Tyler's Obituary
Ray Donald Tyler, 98, of Kamuela, HI, died on May 18, 2022 in Hilo, HI. Born in Cleveland, OH on March 4, 1924. He served in the U.S. Marines in WWII and fought at the Battle of Iwo Jima. A few years after the war, he moved to Honolulu, HI and then to Kamuela, HI. He loved big band music, Ohio State football, coin collecting, and reading. A celebration of life will be held in Kamuela with family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Barney Typl; mother, Jane Typl (Sorver); and sister, Lenore (Lee) Wesley. He is survived by his girlfriend, Gail Emerson of Kamuela; nephew, Gregory (Cindi) Hayes of Kentucky; Robert (Beth) Kraft of Kailua-Kona and Renee Kraft of Kailua-Kona.
