Ronald Joseph Proebstl's Obituary
Ronald Joseph Proebstl, passed peacefully due to complications from cancer on Friday, January 20th, 2022 on his beloved farm in Kapoho, on the Big Island of Hawaii. He was 60.
Ron was born in New York City, New York on December 15, 1961 to Richard James Proebstl and Cecelia Marie (Counihan) Proebstl. His family moved to California in 1968 where he graduated from Shery High School in Torrance, California. Ron, from a young age, loved sports and the outdoors and they would both remain lifelong passions. He excelled in any sport he attempted. In his youth he played Little League Baseball as catcher and remained an avid golfer throughout his life. While attending Shery High School, he met Deanna Sorensen, they married in 1983. They had one child, Keri Lynn Proebstl.
Ron found himself a dedicated, adoring, single father raising a daughter at a young age.
He held several different jobs in Los Angeles but after visiting Hawaii, he fell in love with the Big Island.
He and Keri moved there in 1990. It was in Hawaii he found his true life's calling in farming. He found work first as a farm hand, then as foreman, and finally as owner of his own farm. Ron loved being a farmer, he was a devoted father & a adoring grand father, he loved working outdoors his passion for snorkeling & all of his exploring, island adventures was what made him the most happy and he spent over thirty years working his orchards on his farm.
Ron will be greatly missed by his family and the many friends he made over the years in Hawaii.
Ron is survived by his daughter Keri (Melton) Bardales and their son Isaiah (his beloved only grand son) of Grand Island Nebraska, his brothers Richard Proebstl and Robert Proebstl and his Sister Lynn (Gary) Valiere, all of Los Angeles California. He is also survived by his Aunts Elenore and Arlene and numerous cousins. Ron was preceded in death by his parents.
