Sam Kahikina's Obituary
Sam Kahikina passed away on July 12, 2025. Born on December 20, 1953 in Hilo then spent his childhood years in Oahu. He graduated from Waianae High School and later served in the army. Sam was also a marathon runner, a Golden Gloves Boxer 5x before turning professional. He was known most for working at Hilo Coast Processing Company and Kuhio Garden.
Sam is survived by his wife, Angela (Angie) Baligad-Kahikina of Hilo, HI. Sons: Kekoa Baligad-Kahikina of Pepeekeo, HI; Kaimana Baligad-Kahikina (Ashlyn) of Pepeekeo, HI. and daughter Kahealani Baligad-Kahikina of Hilo, HI. Mother: Dolores (Jesus) Nelias of Makakilo, Oahu. Brothers: Chester (Patty) Kahikina of Ewa Beach, Oahu; Benjamin (Dawn) Kahikina of Coalinga, California; Danny (Kathy) Kahikina of Honaunau, HI and Troy (Jonelle Garcia) Kahikina of Ewa Beach, Oahu. Sisters: Debra (Kinney) Lemmon of Keaau, HI; Doreen Rose of Waipahu, Oahu and Bernadine Kahikina of Kapolei, Oahu. Also 15 grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and god daughter Erica Rapoza of Oahu.
Sam was preceded in death by his son, Kaipo Baligad-Kahikina and his father, Benjamin Kahikina.
In celebration of Sam’s life, a memorial service will be held at First Assembly of God, Hamakua Church in Pepeekeo on August 30, 2025. Visitation from 2 to 3 PM, with a service at 3 PM and food and fellowship to follow.
