Stanley Brooks Jr.'s Obituary
Stanley Brooks Jr quietly passed away on May 29, 2023 in Pahala. He was born March 2, 1950 to Emma Kealiiholokahiki Martinson and Stanley C Brooks Sr both of Ka’u. He was the youngest of seven, he is survived by Sisters : Margery (Hansen) of Kona, Mona Emiko (Ishibashi) of Hilo, Mary “Lani” (Best) of Keaukaha and Stalma Lauae (Makuakane) of Na’alehu, Brothers: Raymond Fujikawa of Na’alehu and Riley Fujikawa of Honolulu.
Stanley grew up in Waiohinu, briefly attended Kamehameha Schools in Kapalama and returned to graduate from Ka’u High School in 1968.
He was an active and devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints Ka’u Ward. Stanley loved his culture and history and was very knowledgeable of his Ka’u roots. His Genealogy ran deep being 9th Generation to Kalaniopu’u o Moku o Keawe.
He will be best remembered in his work as “Santa” for 100’s of children throughout Hawaii for almost 20 years at the Prince Kuhio Mall and later Ala Moana Shopping Center on Oahu. He had a great love bringing joy to Hawaii’s children.
He is survived by his wife Madeline Maluhia (Babs) Brooks, Children: Stanley Brooks III (Sina) of Utah, Hanai Grandson “Kekui” Waiahukini Brooks. Daughters: Amber (Travis) Vaughn of Washington Daughter: Heather Puahala Brooks Na’alehu. Loving Stepchildren Sons: Dado (Aoloa) Santos of Hilo. Dane (Carolyn) of Oahu and Daughter: Teriitavae (Brian) Kahele 20 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grand.
Services to be held on Sat. June 24th, 2023 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Chapel in Na’alehu 95-5682 Mamalahoa Hwy. Visitation 9-11 (public welcome) 11am service followed by final rest in Na’alehu Cemetery with lunch to follow at the chapel..
