Theo Lani Bell's Obituary
Theo Lani Bell, age 75, of Waimea, Hawaiʻi, peacefully passed away on January 26, 2026. She was born on September 16, 1950, in Hilo, Hawaiʻi, and was the beloved daughter of Theodore “Teddy” Bell Sr. and Piʻilani Keʻala Matsu.
Known affectionately to family and friends as Lani and Puna, she was a woman deeply rooted in love for her ʻohana. Lani expressed that love most often through her kitchen, where she joyfully cooked and baked for all, becoming especially well known for her remarkable pies and ʻono. Her home was a place of warmth, nourishment, and welcome.
She also had a deep compassion for animals and took great care in tending to them, whether on the ranch or at her home. Lani carried that same gentleness and devotion into her family life, doting lovingly on her sons and grandchildren, who were the pride and joy of her life.
She is survived by her sons, Thomas Phillips (Bobbie Jo) and Matthew Phillips (Kaʻaka Swain); her sister, Thoedora “Tootsie” Timm; and her brothers, Theodore “Teddy” Bell Jr. (Rosie), Rodney “Butch” Bell (Doreen), and Keith “Jumbo” Bell (Sandra). She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Emma, Malachi, Cody, Kailea, Tyler, Piʻilani, Matthew, Hoʻomalu, and Uliʻi, and her great-grandchild, Daniel. She will be deeply missed by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Theo Lani Bell will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for family. Her legacy of care, comfort, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
