Walter Gregory “Morgan” Gomes, Sr.
August 29, 1948 - June 20, 2026
Walter Gregory “Morgan” Gomes, Sr., 77, of Hilo, Hawaii, passed away at home on June 20, 2026 surrounded by family. Born in Honolulu, he was the son of the late Walter Gomes and Mary Katherine (Kuikahi) Collins. He was a retired construction laborer for Goodfellow Bros with Local 368 and a member of Hale Pule Ke Ola Hou in Keaukaha.
Survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Blossom; his three children, Josephine Gomes, Walter “Greg” Jr., (Dr. Jackie) Gomes, and Shirleene “Pua” Gomes; his three grandchildren, Cameron, Giovanni, and Natalie Gomes. He also leaves behind nine siblings: Robert “Kimo” Gomes, Linda Dauz; Russell (Amy), Katie, Ray (Tammy), Emma, David (Alana), Jesse (Paula) Collins; Leslie Howen (and special friend, Mike), as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Homelani Memorial Park Chapel in Hilo. Visitation begins at 10am with service at 11am, followed by an on-site burial. Fellowship to follow and will be continued at the Hilo Women’s Club (7 Lele St.). Aloha casual attire. Leis and flowers are welcome.
