Wilbert N. Malepe's Obituary
Wilbert N. Malepe, aka “Bear,” 62 of Pahala, passed away on February 3, 2024, at Hilo Medical Center, surrounded by his family.
He was born on October 12, 1961, and graduated from Ka’u High School in 1979. After graduation, he worked for Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Company, now known as Hawaiian Macadamia Nut Services, for 44 years, as an AG Control Orchard Worker. He was also a member of the ILWU Local 142.
He is survived by a sister: Maile (Efren) Abellera of Pahala, brothers: William “Bunny” Malepe & Wilson “Moto” Malepe of Pahala, and Wilton “Kupi” (Janine) Malepe of Naalehu. Hanai Son: Wilfred Malepe, Jr. of Wahiawa, Hanai Daughters: Sherry Malepe of Wahiawa, Layla Abellera & Elysa Abellera of Pahala, and Erika Abellera of Las Vegas, Sister-in-law, Won Hwa “Kim” Malepe of Waianae, and numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Private Services were held. Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
