Walter “Boy” Panila Kahiwa Jr. 66, of Capt. Cook and Miloli’i, HI, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2015 at Pohai Malama. He was born in Napo’opo’o, HI on July 3, 1948. He was a retired educator for Kamehameha Schools, Honaunau and Konawaena Middle Schools. He served on the Hawaii Burial council, the Educational Council, Kahikolu Church Restoration Committee, as Kahu at Hau’oli Kaman’o Church, Boy Scouts of Hawaii Troop 59 and numerous other community organizations. Services will be at Kahikolu Church on Saturday, April 25 and at Miloli’i Halau on Sunday, April 26 from 9 am to 12:30 pm. Scattering of ashes to follow at Miloli’i. Casual attire, leis or loose flowers for scattering is suggested. He is survived by brothers Arnold Kahiwa of Honolulu and Keith Kahiwa of Capt. Cook. Sisters Brenda Kahiwa of Capt. Cook and Belinda Kahiwa of Kea’au. Hanae children SherrieBelinda and StevenKalei Kahiwa-Kakalia of Capt. Cook. Two nieces, one nephew and two grand nephews.
