I'm so grateful to have known Connie. She was always so warm, welcoming and comforting to be around. Her cooking, her crafting, her home and garden were tended to with such love and attention to detail that in a world that is so upside down now, seems to make the gift she had for homemaking and hosting that much more amazing, like the level of caring and kindness she did it with is becoming lost, more and more.
I hadn't seen Connie for a long time but was in town last October and staying across the river. I popped in for a visit with Dick and Connie and after a wonderful chat I mentioned to Connie that I had just gotten a hack job haircut and how upset I was. She agreed and said something to the effect of "yah... it's not that great." I LOVED that she said that!!! Most people would say it looked fine and it would drive me nuts because it was so obviously horrible. Connie's honesty, sense of humour and her laugh made her a joy to be around.
I'm so glad I got to see her smile, hear her laugh and feel her warm hug one last time. I would drive by every night on my way home and see the garden patio lit up, the lights and the tv on and it always made me so happy to know that Dick and Connie were warm and cozy inside the beautiful home they created together. What a great team.
I will miss you dearly Connie, and hope to see you again, somehow, someway.
Love of love,
Shan
