Connie R Farris' Obituary
With heavy hearts but with immense appreciation for the time we had with her, we announce the passing of Connie Roseann Farris (née Marte), who left us on February 7th, 2025, at the age of 64. A beloved resident of Vancouver, B.C., she brought light, warmth, and kindness to everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.Born in Medicine Hat, Alberta, and raised in Barnwell, Alberta, Connie was an extraordinary woman of courage, determination, and adventure. At just 18, she set out on her own, embarking on a career in the insurance industry in Edmonton, Alberta, where her ambition and dedication helped her rise quickly. Her journey led her to Vancouver, B.C., where she continued her career and, most importantly, met the love of her life, R. W. (Dick) Farris. They married on October 17th, 1997, and together built a life filled with laughter, and deep, unwavering love.Connie embraced life to the fullest. She was a passionate scuba diver, skier, cyclist, triathlete, and world traveler, always eager to explore new horizons. Later, she discovered a love for golf, a sport she mastered alongside her husband. No matter where life took her, she made every place feel like home. She had a gift for transforming spaces with beauty and warmth, decorating for every season and filling our lives with holiday cheer. Christmas, in particular, was a time of magic in her home—her Christmas Eve dinners were legendary, and her baking brought joy to all who tasted it.
For many years, Connie and Dick found peace and joy in their holiday home on the island of Molokai, Hawaii. There, she formed deep and lasting friendships, touching the hearts of everyone she met with her warmth and kindness. To this day, those who knew her remain in awe of her generosity, adventurous spirit, and the love she poured into every relationship. Her creativity knew no bounds. A gifted pianist, she found both solace and joy in music, her fingers effortlessly bringing melodies to life. She was also an extraordinary quilter and, more recently, a masterful knitter. With patience and precision, she created intricate, heartfelt pieces—each stitch and pattern infused with love. Her quilts became treasured heirlooms, wrapping family and friends in warmth, while her beautifully knitted creations were a testament to her artistry and dedication. Whether playing the piano, quilting, or knitting, her hands were always creating something beautiful, a true reflection of the love and care she poured into everything she did.
Connie was a constant source of strength and support—not only for her husband, but also for her sisters, and the many friends who were fortunate enough to know her. She was always there, offering a listening ear, a helping hand, and a shoulder to lean on whenever it was needed. Her kindness was boundless, her patience unshakable, and her love unconditional. Above all, Connie was deeply devoted to her family. She loved fiercely, with a warmth and brightness that never dimmed. She was the heart of every gathering, the steady presence who lifted others up with her unwavering encouragement and compassion. Her generosity knew no limits, and her joy was infectious—filling every space she entered with laughter, love, and an unshakable sense of belonging. Family was her greatest treasure, and she gave herself fully to the happiness and well-being of those she loved, always putting them first with an open heart and boundless devotion. She is survived by her devoted husband, Dick Farris; her stepson, James Farris (Shelly); and her loving mother, Ann Marte. She will be deeply missed by her beloved sisters: Jennifer Marte (Gail), Colleen Marte and her son Westley, and Noreen Marte (Pepe) and their children, Tundra Sage and Benjamín Ezequiel. She is also lovingly remembered by her extended family in Toronto, including Donalda Hilton (David).Though we mourn her loss, we also celebrate the incredible life she lived and the beautiful memories she leaves behind. Her love will continue to shine through the lives of those she cherished, and the wisdom she shared will remain in our hearts forever. She will be profoundly missed but never forgotten, as her light lives on in all of us.
