Remembering Doug
Doug was one of my closest friends here in Hawaii. My husband and I were truly blessed to be among his circle of trust, and we will always cherish the time we shared together.
What I loved most was the way Doug told stories—animated, enthusiastic, and full of life. When he trusted you, he showed his authentic self without reservation. He was one of a kind, with an eccentric yet deeply caring spirit.
Doug’s devotion and loyalty to his family was unwavering. He cared deeply about the people in his life, always offering kindness, thoughtfulness, and support.
I feel the loss deeply, knowing he won’t be stopping by anymore or sending me those one-page text messages. I wish he was still here—for my own sake. Yet I also know Doug was suffering in many ways, and there is comfort in knowing he has shed the suffering of the human condition.

Doug was one of my closest friends here in Hawaii. My husband and I were truly blessed to be among his circle of trust, and we will always cherish the time we shared together. I became friends with Doug when I rented him a car when he first got to Hawaii. We hit it off right away and over the next couple years he became good friends with my husband and I.
