Fred J. Koehnen's Obituary
Fred J. Koehnen, 92, of Hilo, HI, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at his residence. He was born in Hilo, HI on Feb. 24, 1924. He was a businessman, securities broker, consultant, and a veteran of the US Army Air Corp during WWII and the Hawaii National Guard during Vietnam. He was a director on the Hilo Medical Center Foundation Board and a trustee of the Lyman House Memorial Museum, the Hilo Boarding School, the Herbert C. Shipman Foundation, and the Orlando Lyman Charitable Trust. Private services will be held at a later date. He is survived by spouse, Carolyn Koehnen of Hilo, HI; 3 daughters, Lynne Forbes of Hilo, HI, Helie (G.A.) Rock of Hilo, HI, and Kristi (Gary) Robinson of Kapolei, HI; son, Owen Koehnen of Hilo, HI; sister, Helie Rohner of Hilo, HI; 5 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; niece and nephew.
"A celebration of Fred's life will be held on March 5, from 2:00-5:00 PM at the Mokupapapa Discovery Center (the old F. Koehnen Ltd. building) in downtown Hilo. Those who wish to attend are asked to bring happy memories."
