James Glenn Kumher's Obituary
"James (Jim) Glenn Kumher passed away at 10:38 pm on 10/23/2024 in Hilo, HI from complications of Muscular Dystrophy. He was born in Warren, OH on 10/02/1954 and lived his childhood in Cortland, OH with his parents John and Joan and siblings, Steve, Larry, Jeff and Arlene. He joined Delta Air Lines at age 18 and worked in Cleveland, Chicago, Salt Lake City and Phoenix AZ for 33 years as an agent until his retirement. He is survived by his wife, Emese, daughter, Ashley, mother Joan, sister Arlene, brothers Steve and Larry, grandchildren, Cadence, Clarissa, Noah.
He was the best husband, father, grandfather and son anyone could have. He loved his family and adored his daughter. When his former wife moved to Phoenix, AZ with young Ashley, he moved across country to be closer to her. He took Ashley on camping trips, horseback riding, skiing and spent every minute he could with her when she was growing up. He met Emese at Delta Air Lines when she was a part-time agent in 1995 in Phoenix and they have been married for 25 years. They were married in 1999 and enjoyed their home in Goodyear AZ and going to hockey and baseball games. They were Coyotes and Diamondbacks season ticket holders until they moved to Oʻahu HI in 2019 to be closer to Ashley and her young family. While together, they travelled to Canada, Ohio, and most recently to Australia in 2022 and New Zealand in 2023. He loves his grandchildren greatly and has a special relationship with Noah, the youngest one. He would take Noah on rides on his scooter which delighted him immensely.
He has a strong faith in Jesus Christ and we know that he is with our Lord in heaven. We all miss him very much. He touched many people throughout his life in ways we are just finding out so if you have a special memory, please share below.
