Joy B. Pruitt's Obituary
Joy B. Pruitt (née Joy Pruitt-Joseph), 77, of Hilo, passed away at home on December 5, surrounded by her loving family.
Joy is survived by: her husband, Larry Joseph; daughter Felicia Faden (Sean) and their children Joelle and Joaquin, of California; and daughter, Natasha Bickmore (Matt) and their sons Jack Bear and Milo, of Colorado.
Joy was originally from Brooklyn, New York, and worked as a speech pathologist in various settings, such as Hilo Medical Center, Head Start, Easter Seals, DOE, Hawaii Care Choices (formerly Hospice), where she was on the Board of Directors, and in private practice. She was an active member of state and national speech and hearing associations, as well as several local health related clubs.
She enjoyed hiking and was an avid traveler. She especially enjoyed trips to Mexico, Europe, Israel, and hiking the Sierra Nevada Range. She lived life to the fullest.
A grave site service for Joy will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday December 10 at Homelani Memorial Park, with a celebration of life reception to follow at the family residence.
