Norman Hirako
To the Nakano family, my deepest sympathy. Norman was a coworker of mine at GTE Hawaiian Telephone and Verizon for the first 15 years of my career. During that time I had considered him to be somewhat of a "big brother" being his partner in the Puna district. As I am also named Norman, you could imagine the confusion and comments from other employees especially working in the same central office. We were named Norman Sr and Norman Jr, I guess you know who was Norman Sr.
After I retired from Hawaiian Telcom few years ago, he asked me to help with his Karaoke stage setup crew. This was a side of him that seemed he really enjoyed. Helping people, having a positive out look and always improving things. He will be missed but his memory will be kept alive through the continuation of his passion of Karaoke events.
